Rahu-Jupiter Conjoin

the theft of goodness

The chaos in Aries reaches a climax May 24th-30th, when Rahu and Jupiter will be within one degree of each other. Rahu is moving backward through Aries on his way into Pisces in the fall (the nodes always move in reverse). Jupiter is moving forward through Aries, having just recently arrived. They will cross paths during this period, during which we can expect an event related to this combination on the world stage.

Classically, Rahu-Jupiter conjunction is associated with the poisoning (Rahu) of all good things (Jupiter). It is a combination for disrespect for life and even taking of life, depending on its placement. Jupiter is the overall significator of life or Jiva i.e. an entity imbued with life-force. Rahu is a thief and tends to either cheat, steal or destroy life. As Rahu is meeting and then moving backward behind Jupiter, it is likely he will take something from him. It is Rahu’s nature to manipulate and deceive, he cannot help himself.

On an individual level Jupiter, as ruler of the space element, shows your ability to ‘hold’ or create space for all that is going on in and around you. Rahu will challenge this ability. At a distance, Jupiter may be able to handle Rahu’s disturbance. When they are sharing the same degree the intensity of Rahu’s chaos can become too disturbing for even Jupiter to maintain equilibrium. When in the same sign it is as if they are sharing a house; when in the same degree: a room. They cannot escape one another’s influence.

Jupiter’s ability to influence Rahu for the better is very slight, because of Rahu’s tendency to eclipse. Jupiter essentially disappears during this time, leaving us without his steadying influence.

The best remedy (outside of those I recommend in the ‘synopsis and remediation’ section) is worship of the Sun. Sun has a beneficial relationship with Jupiter and will generally help out when help is needed. Practical ways to worship the Sun are 1. greeting the Sun in the morning, around sunrise 2. maintain a regular routine, especially in sleep/wake cycles and eating schedule—Sun is strengthened by regularity 3. work on good posture—Sun rules the spine, an afflicted Sun will tend to slouch; this means also to ‘keep your head up’ even if things become challenging 4. take leadership on issues that are problematic—Sun is a leader and appreciates those who have the confidence to take charge.

Watch out specifically for the 24th of May: this is when not only Jupiter and Rahu are within one degree, but Moon and Mars will also briefly be at the same degree in Cancer, from about 10:30 am- 2 pm PST, adding a bit of extra challenge. Mars with the Moon shows frustration and anger in the mind/emotions. It is important to watch out for impulsivity during this time, as that tends to be the downfall of Mars.
